UMWU Fires its Secretary General, Lyomoki

Members of the Uganda Medical Workers Union have relieved their general secretary Dr. Sam Lyomoki of his duties for reportedly mismanaging the union.
Lyomoki who doubles as the Secretary General of central organization of free trade union was dismissed on Saturday.
His troubles started way back in 2011 after the high court ordered him to relinquish one of the offices he was occupying.
“Observing that the said honorable Dr. Sam Lyomoki failed to bring court decision to the attention of NEC, was in contempt of court decision and is not a representative of the Uganda Medical workers,” acting Secretary General, UMWU said.
UMWU members also threatened to recall Lyomoki from the parliament as the Workers MP, since he was dismissed as the General Secretary of the union.
However, Lyomoki described his critics as day dreamers.
“These leaders are fighting their own wars and they claim they are fighting for the good of the Union, they get people from streets and address them as members, yet members of the union are clearly known,” Lwomoki said in response to the claims.
