Uganda Christian University will hold a public lecture in honor of Archbishop Janani Luwum.
The Lecture will be held on Thursday February 15th, 2018, between 1:30 Pm and 5Pm at UCU’s Nkoyoyo hall on the eve of the public celebrations of the annual Janani Luwum Day.
Under the theme, “Should the Church be involved in politics”, the public lecture is being held in the context of ongoing discussions and exchanges between Church and political leaders on the role of the Church in Politics.
Justice James Ogoola, the former Principal Judge and Chairman of the Elder’s Forum will give a key note address to a dialogue to be attended by seasoned academia, political, religious and opinion leaders.
Hon. Dr. James Nsaba Buturo, Rtd. Bishop Dr. Edward Muhiima, the retired Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese whose PhD thesis was titled, “The fellowship of suffering: Church and the State during Idi Amin’s regime” are among the discussants.
Other speakers are; Dr. Livingstone Ssewanyanya (Executive Director, Foundation for Human Rights Initiative), Hon. Rhoda Kaleema (Former minister and MP and seasoned women rights activist) and Dr. Abed Bwanika (Three time Presidential candidate and leader of People’s Democratic Party.)
