FDC’s Mwiru Wins Jinja East MP Seat

NRM pulled all the stops but went home with a bloody nose after the Electoral Commission declared FDC’s Paul Mwiru the new MP for Jinja East.

With 6,654 votes, Mwiru left NRM’s Igeme Nabeta trailing with just 5,043 votes.

The election was called just before 10:00pm sparking off wild jubilations amongst Mwiru supporters.

Turn up was low despite an energetic campaign that pulled in all the big shots including the president who campaigned for Nabeta.

FDC party leaders Mugisha Muntu and Patrick Amuriat and musician turned politician Bobi Wine campaigned fro Mwiru. Former Presidential candidate Kizza Besigye also campaigned for Mwiru.
