Safety Of Journalists In Africa Conference Opens In Ethiopia

SAFETY OF JOURNALISTS IN AFRICA

The Inter-Regional Conference on Strengthening National Monitoring and Reporting Mechanisms for the Safety of Journalists has opened in Ethiopia.

Robert Ssempala and Moses Magoola of Human Rights Network for Journalists-Uganda are representing the media fraternity.

The Conference will help in the realisation of Sustainable Development Goals 16.10:1 and Agenda 2063 Aspiration 3, which is taking place at the United Nations Conference Centre Addis Ababa (UNCC) Ethopia.

Other Uganda representatives in this meeting are the Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima, Media Center and Govt spokesperson Ofwono Opondo and Uganda Human Rights Commission by Rose Kemigisha.

The meeting seeking to come up with an Action Plan on the safety of Journalists as spearheaded by UNESCO.

Uganda is a hot spot in the region where Journalists are battered.
