Geographical Information Systems (GIS) is a smart technology that is used to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage and present all types of geographical data; to guide service delivery & decision making.
He called upon Kampalans and Ugandans at large to celebrate the achievements so far in the GIS application as a huge milestone in the transformation agenda of Kampala.
He noted that its becoming hard and harder to navigate through Kampala without a robust GIS application and many are still driven by the rudimentary method of locating areas through physical features.
The GIS is a smart city solution and its an engine to spark off the transformation of Kampala and therefore all the citizenry must be sensitized about the same.
He promised that his next job is starting an aggressive campaign of inventory, naming and renaming of roads in Kampala to install signages reflecting the icons Uganda has had since time in memorial.
This will go hand in hand with erecting various Monuments to tell the heritage of our City
