Promoting Uganda’s Poultry Industry To Achieve Vision 2040

The Ministry of Agriculture has started a poultry development campaign aimed at boosting the export market of agricultural goods most especially eggs.

Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja, the Minister of Agriculture is leading the campaign he launched in Lukaya Town Council-Kalungu District.

“A campaign aimed at luring Ugandans into poultry farming has kicked off with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, politicians and private sector partnering to spread the gospel to the entire Country”.

While addressing participants  at a one day workshop for poultry farming in Lukaya Town Council-Kalungu District, MAAIF Minister, Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja said an agreement between his officand the leadership of the National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC & DB) has been reached to start a nationwide campaign for poultry farming.

“He said the campaign aims at driving Uganda`s poultry industry to another level, and also to achieve the Country`s vision 2040″.

“I have been to United Arab Emirates, they want eggs and other agricultural produce from Uganda. We want to use this opportunity to achieve the President`s Vision 2040”. The Minister said.

He added that in order to fulfill his dream; he decided to start the campaign from Greater Masaka where he comes from and later to other areas.

“I am going to engage the private sector and all politicians across the Country to help me on mobilizing farmers. It is possible; Uganda can supply eggs to United Arab Emirates and take the entire market there.

Even in Asia, we have got a bigger market in China for our agricultural produce, we only need to be serious and produce in quantity and the quality they want”. He added.

The Minister was accompanied by a team of officials from the National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank led by the Director-Rural Poultry Development Program (RPDP), Dr. Jackson Mubiru.

It should be noted that the Ministry of AgricultureAnimal Industry and Fisheries` Mission is to transform subsistence farming to commercial agriculture, while the Vision is to be a competitive, profitable and sustainable agricultural sector.

The National Animal Genetic Resource Centre and Databank (NAGRC&DB)of the Ministry of Agriculture,Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) wishes to inform the general public that Genuine Kuroilers, fertilized eggs, Brooded day old chicks and 3-4 weeks are sold at good price.
