Kampala – The government has been requested to honour its pledges to Uganda’s renowned athlete, Golden girl Dorcus Inzikuru.
The petition was initiated by Hon. Benard Atiko, member of parliament (MP) for Ayivu West Constituency in the chamber before speaker Rt.Hon. Rebecca Kadaga.
He expressed concerns that after her victory with a gold medal during the female 3000 m steeplechase race in the 2005 Olympics athletes competition, President Museveni pledged to appreciate her hard work to represent the country with among others.
A personal private vehicle and a house were pledged by President Museveni in honour of Inzikuru’s victory and holding the flag high.
Inzikuru’s win at the time ended Uganda’s 33 year drought without a medal in global athletics.
However, unfortunately even as of to date, Inzikuru has never glanced at the car present.
This situation follows conflicts against the house present given to her by the government.
In response to the house matter, speaker Rebecca Kadaga charged lands minister Hon Betty Kamya to pay a visit to athlete Inzikulu and analyze her property issues in Arua.
Hon Betty Kamya has also been delegated to compile the report about her concerns and the general situation, and thereafter present it to the parliament.
