Aviation expert Captain George Mike Mukula, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Eastern region, has Appealed To The Newly Elected City Councilors Of Soroti To Focus On Delivering Services To Their Electorate.
Mukula’s call came as he addressed the newly elected City councilors led by their Mayor Joshua Edogu at an engagement on Wednesday.
“Am Happy that the people of Soroti are united and that is one of the core pillars of the ruling government. It is through unity that we shall turn soroti into a consummate City and spur development to empower our people. As leaders, we should promote wealth and development through industries. Soroti must be strengthened from merely having shops and steps be taken to establish industries, and a regional economic hub” Mukula said.
Mukula, the former Soroti Municipality Member of Parliament emphasized that the City should diversify in order to ensure the creation of more employment opportunities. He also called on them to plan well and build City roads adding that the Government will procure more road construction equipment to ensure a good road network throughout Uganda.
Mukula , a son of the soil tops the list of local investors in Soroti city with the multi-billion Grain Silos for all types of cereals ,Modernized Voice of Teso Building and also owns the first and tallest building with a lift in the area.
Currently ,Mukula is setting up the largest food processing plant in the North and Eastern Uganda across the Nile ,situated in Soroti City Industrial Park of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA).
On behalf of the new city leadership, Edogu who has been serving as the LC 3 chairperson in the then Northern Division local council of Soroti Municipality now Soroti City, hailed Mukula for his extraordinary leadership skills and pledged to cooperate with the government to ensure that Soroti City attains better services.
Edogu requested Capt.Mukula as a senior leader in the region to guide them, and guaranteed that the City leadership is going to work hand in hand with the government and focus on unifying the people of Soroti City irrespective of their political, religious or tribal affiliation for the betterment of the area.
Soroti is among the new cities approved by parliament last year and were operationalised by July 1 the same year including electing their leaders in the previous election.
