The appointing authority will not appoint a vice president who is not a female, Pepper Digital has exclusively learnt.
Information obtained further indicates that the VP post has reportedly been ring-fenced for women, particularly from Busoga and Buganda regions.
The nominees in Busoga are former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, NRM SG Kasule Lumumba and Babirye Milly Babalanda, the Personal Assistant to the National Chairman, NRM. In Buganda names of Ministers Kiyingi Nakiwala, Rosemary Sseninde and NRM Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa are being looked at.
KADAGA ACCEPTS VP JOB
We have also learnt that a delegation of elders from Busoga region is set to meet the appointing Authority on behalf of Kadaga-their daughter. Key on the agenda is to consider her for the position of Vice President.
Like Edward Ssekandi who first rejected the VP job sometime back only to take it on later, Daily Pepper has learned that Kadaga has accepted eating a humble pie and being VP despite earlier barbs and tantrums.
She is now at the mercy of the president. We have now learnt that the Busoga elders with the knowledge of Kadaga are expected to meet the president anytime from now before he makes a final decision on who will be included in the next government.
