As the Country’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Ganda Foundation –Uganda, a charitable organization raising awareness about the dire conditions in hospitals, schools and refugee asylums in Uganda, on Friday 16th July 2021 carried on with delivering support towards the medical workers that have been at the forefront of fighting Covid-19 at Kawolo Hospital in Buikwe District.
This is their way of thanking them for their tremendous efforts and to offer them some relief as the country goes through the worst economic moments.
Led by the former Buikwe District Woman Member of Parliament Dorothy Christine Mpiima alias Maama Buikwe, the group donated assorted food items to over 400 individuals.
The beneficiaries were the front-line health workers and patients at Kawolo hospital including the ordinary hospital staff, PWDs in Lugazi among other groups.
‘’As COVID-19 continues to spread, health workers are on the front lines at this very moment—in hospitals around the country putting themselves at risk to stop this pandemic. It is our mandate as stakeholders to complement government efforts by providing health workers what they urgently need to fight this global pandemic and to continue providing essential services for their families ‘’,Mpiima said .
Flanked by various leaders from Buikwe District leadership, Mpiima who has been at the forefront of advocating for better services at the health facility located in Lugazi , added that all stakeholders should copy Ganda Foundation that’s has strived to ensure that health workers needs are met through donations.
Receiving the donations, health officials at the facility hailed Ganda Foundation Uganda for the commitment and hard work towards the front liners amidst the unprecedented times of Covid-19 pandemic.
This is not the first time the foundation is donating to the hospital, previously they donated an incubator, PPEs and also the communities around the District have gained from the support in health and hygiene, education among others.
Located over 40 km from Uganda’s capital Kampala, Kawolo Hospital, Built in 1967 had been for years suffered with quagmire facilities and equipment.
The hospital situated on the Jinja to Kampala highway, a notorious black spot for serious road accidents often gets multiple injury incidents overflow while dedicated staff continually struggled with obsolete equipment and a serious shortage of essential supplies such as drugs, sanitation equipment, linen and even mattresses.
However, with such interventions from Ganda Foundation and the central government, there has been a face-lift and improvement I services offered at the facility.
According to information on their website, ‘The Ganda Foundation’ uses money raised through events, album and ticket sales at Ganda Boys concerts and by direct donations to its website to provide sustainable assistance directly where it is needed, empowering communities and bringing messages of peace and hope from around the world.
