Farmers in Rwampara District have been urged to embrace Poultry farming in their communities for them to improve on the commercial farming and enhance community development.
Julius Karuhanga Tusiime, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Rwampara East advised Farmers from his Constituency to ensure that they aim at developing commercial farming in their communities mainly through poultry farming. He said the type of farming enhances quick production that will improve development in their homes.
Through NAGRIC, Tusiime has lobbied and received about 4100 kroiler chicks that have been distributed in seven wards/parishes out of 14 in Rwampara East while others will also receive in the next phase.
The wards or parishes that benefited in this project include Ngoma, Kikonkoma, Ryamiyonga, Mwizi, Rwibogo, Kibingo and Nyaruhandagazi.
‘’This project is a community driven demand. People from some areas of Rwampara have been praying for such projects that can develop them commercially. The Communities should always believe in government and embrace its projects. If the communities want to benefit or share on government programs or projects, they should unite and form groups so that government finds them organized’’, said Tusiime adding that the parish model development program should be embraced by people because it’s part of government programs.
He added that; “I must tell you that Agriculture is now a way to go, let’s emphasize commercial production if we want to develop our communities. Now that we have got a chance that NAGRIC can supply us kroiler chicks let’s take care of them and we benefit from this project. It’s good NAGRIC has supplied us the best quality of chicks that are much resistant from diseases, so we are able must get out of poverty.”
He said they had distributed over 4100 kroiler chicks of good breed and we have been targeting those who were willing and have passion and ready to do poultry farming, then those who have also done it before. We have reached seven parishes and wards but there is still need from the rest which will also be covered soon” said Tusiime.
He added that he has already lobbed for over 100 piggery which will soon be distributed to the community as soon as it is confirmed that there is no more swine flu disease in pigs
