African Union High Representative for infrastructure Raila Odinga on Thursday met with Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House in Entebbe.

Raila took to his social media accounts to say the two leaders walked down memory lane to discuss the history of Kenya and Uganda.

“The discussion was aimed at forging stronger ties moving into the future,” he said.

This meeting comes as something of a foreword to the already theatrical account of the impending general elections in Kenya slated for August 9.

Odinga has been the assumed Leader of Opposition in Kenya since 2013. He was the Member of Parliament for Langata from 1992 to 2007.

It should be remembered that Museveni last year hosted Deputy President of Kenya William Ruto, who is embroiled in a neck and neck race with Odinga to become Kenya’s next president.

Museveni last year stated that Uganda is ready to work with whoever is elected president of Kenya.

Political analysts say that following the previous trade wrangles between the two countries, the meeting between Museveni and Odinga is viewed as an indication of the Ugandan president’s impartiality towards the candidates in the race to become Kenya’s next president.

“We discussed a wide range of issues concerning our two countries. I welcome him,” President Museveni tweeted

The two leaders were pictured having a sit down in the expansive field of the State House,

Earlier Raila was at Juba, South Sudan for the commissioning of the 3.6km Freedom Bridge connecting East Africa.
