All Truck drivers! 43 new cases registered as Uganda records highest infection rate in 24 hours, COVID-19 tally hits 203

Kampala – Uganda has registered forty-Three new cases of the novel coronavirus rising Uganda’s infections to 203

Health Ministry disclosed that the 43 new cases were all truck drivers that arrived border entry points.

The newly confirmed COVID-19 cases were 17 Ugandans, 14 Kenyans, 5 Tanzanians, 4 Eritreans, 2 Burundians and 1 unknown nationality

The truck drivers arrived through border points as follows: Elegu :15 Ugandans,9 Kenyans,4 Eritreans; Mutukula: 5 Tanzanians, 1 Burundian, and Malaba: 5 Kenyans, 2 Ugandans, 1 Burundian, 1 nationality unknown

The 43 new cases tested positive out of 1,838 taken at the various border points

The Ministry revealed that the 43 new cases saw Uganda’s total infections rise to 203.

A sign of relief as community samples testing negative with the recent 720 returning COVID-19 free on Friday, May 15.

Early Friday, Kenya’s Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Rashid Aman announced 23 new coronavirus cases, infections rising to 781

According to Dr. Aman, the 23 cases – 5 females and 18 males aged between 24 and 85 – were confirmed from 2100 samples tested within the last 24 hours.

Kenya also lost 3 more patients, bringing the total number of Covid-19 deaths to 45.
