Unknown assailants have shot dead another Muslim cleric Sheikh Mustapha Bahinga only four days after Shia Muslim cleric Sheikh Dr Abdul Qadir Muwanga was gunned down at his Mayuge based home.
Sheikh Bahinga was on Sunday night trailed by two assailants to the Bwebaja Mosque where he had gone for prayer at 8pm.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the deceased was with his family in his vehicle. He left them in the car and went for prayers.
However, immediately after Sheikh Bahinga got back into the car, two armed assailants, disembarked from a motorcycle that had brought them, approached the car and shot the deceased before escaping on the same motorcycle.
No other member of his family in the vehicle was shot at and nothing was taken from the deceased and hence police ruling out robbery.
Sheikh Bahinga who is also a prominent businessman is a Muslim leader in the Nakasero Muslim sect.
