Besigye Aide Mugumya To Face DRC Court Martial

Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party presidential candidate Kizza Besigye’s aide is among seven Ugandans set to face court martial in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Uganda’s security Minister Henry Tumukunde on Thursday confirmed that plans are underway to arraign seven Ugandans including FDC’s Sam Mugumya currently detained in a prison in the DRC before the General Court Martial.

Mugumya who was allegedly arrested in possession of sensitive security documents is accused of engaging in subversive activities in Eastern DRC.

The others Aggrey Kamukama, Steven Mugisha, Nathan Bright and Joseph Kamugisha, who have been detained in Eastern DRC since 2014.

While Lt General Tumukunde, did not give details on when and where they will be charged from, he told Parliament on Thursday evening that government is awaiting communication from DRC on the process and will provide legal services to them.
