Besigye Reveals Plot To ‘Assassinate’ Him

Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Presidential candidate, Kizza Besigye has revealed why he did not attend Makindye Court proceedings saying he had received high level intelligence that he had been lined up for possible ‘assassination.’

Bessigye who made this revelation while addressing the media on Thursday, had previously stated that he would be in Makindye Court to witness the Inspector General of Police (IGP) General Kale Kayihura appearing in the dock over police misconduct. However, Besigye did not show up as promised.

“”I didn’t go to Makindye court yesterday because I received information about the intention to harm me,” Besigye said.

Besigye added that he had also received information that Kayihura would not answer summons by the same court to appear and take plea.

“I also had prior information that Mr Kayihura would be a no show and that the DPP would show up and ask to take over the case,” Besigye said.

The opposition honcho has since called on Kayihura to step down as police chief arguing that the latter cannot be head of the force and expect to be arrested by the same. He added that if the IGP is found innocent, he can be reinstated.
