BREAKING NEWS: Eng. Jonard Asimwe Defeats Hon. Chris Byaromunsi in His Own Polls Ahead of NRM CEC Race
In a stunning political twist, Hon. Chris Byaromunsi has suffered a major blow after losing an internal opinion poll conducted by his own personal assistant for the NRM Vice Chairperson Western Region race. The poll revealed Eng. Jonard Asimwe, the NRM Chairperson for Hoima City, as the clear frontrunner with an overwhelming 90%, dwarfing Byaromunsi’s 23% and Duncan Abigaba’s 3%.
Eng. Asimwe’s popularity is soaring nationwide, with grassroots NRM members and senior party leaders alike praising his tremendous impact in various sectors. His contributions to sports, including sponsorship of She Queens, Kitara FC, Boma FC, and Mbale Heroes, have endeared him to the youth and sports enthusiasts across the country.
Beyond sports, Asimwe has championed infrastructural development — from roads and educational institutions to industrial establishments — cementing his status as a transformative leader with a vision for development.
According to the poll, Hon. Byaromunsi now holds only a 10% projected chance of success in the main race set for August 25th at either Namboole or Kololo. This shift in momentum indicates a changing tide in Western Uganda’s NRM politics.
Notably, Hon. Mawanda was excluded from the poll due to the NRM’s eligibility criteria, which bar individuals with criminal records in the last 10 years. Mawanda is currently battling embezzlement charges related to cooperative funds.
The message is clear — Eng. Jonard Asimwe is not just a contender, but the man to watch in the upcoming NRM CEC elections.
