On the run! Buikwe NRM boss wanted for land-grabbing

Jinja – Police in Ssezibwa Region are hunting for the former NRM chairperson for Buikwe District Harriet Nankabirwa alias Kimyanso for allegedly stealing a land title, belonging to a one, Lucky Namuddu, aged 81.

The land Block 359 plot 4 which is located at Namatovu Village Najja Sub-County in Buikwe District measures about 100 acres and belongs to Namuddu, a resident of Kyetume in Mukono District.

The trio; Betty Mbogo, Alvin Mukwaya and a Surveyor Ahmed Ssekiziyivu were also arrested and detained at Kyetume Police post in Mukono District under case reference SD 02/02/03/2020 for allegedly conniving with embattled Nankabirwa who went into hiding,to steal the old Woman’s land title.

Kampala Metropolitan spokesman Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrests however said investigations were ongoing.

‘’We arrested three individuals including a driver while Nankabirwa is on the run but I want to assure the victims that we shall apprehend the latter,” said Onyango.

It is alleged that the suspects Betty Mbogo together with the Surveyor, Ssekiziyivu were fraudulently selling the above land on the orders of their boss, Nankabirwa who is also an aspiring Woman Member of Parliament for Buikwe District, with the help of her driver Mukwaya Alvin.

‘’Upon realizing that the land was being sold without my consent, I swiftly reported the matter to authorities who swung into action and netted three suspects but their culprit Nankabirwa disappeared ‘’,the old lady said lamented.

Efforts to get Hon.Nankabirwa by press time were futile as her known phone numbers have been off for the last one week however; Ssekiziyivu who was released on police bond committed himself in handwritten agreement to aiding police in capturing the former.

‘’I have agreed with Namudde to Lucky to take responsibility of looking for Nankabirwa Harriet and recovery of the land title indicated above’’, reads in part Ssekiziyivu’s commitment to Police and Namuddu.

This is not the first time Nankabirwa is being arrested .In 2016 ,while still the NRM chairperson for Buikwe District, the controversial politician was arrested on the orders of the party’s electoral commission chairperson, Dr Tanga Odoi for allegedly messing up the party’s registration exercise and failing to account for Shs13 million.

She consequently lost the Party Seat as the Buikwe Ruling party NRM chairperson and also Njeru Central Division and Municipality seats consecutively.
