The Ugandan business community is mourning the death of Omulangira Dr. Paul Mawanda Kyabaggu, the chairman of BCIL Group, who passed away on Saturday in India.
BCIL Group, which he led through decades of expansion, described him as “a mentor, a leader, and a beacon of hope.” The conglomerate owns Bukoola Chemical Industries, BCI Pharmaceuticals, Royale Property Consultants, MPK Ranchers, and Crete Block.
“His vision shaped our present and will continue to guide our future,” the company said in a statement, noting that memorial details would be communicated later.
Mass will be held every evening at his home in Lubowa as family and colleagues await the arrival of his body.
Kyabaggu’s death comes as BCIL marks its 50th anniversary, a milestone he presided over earlier this year. Business leaders hailed his contribution to Uganda’s agribusiness and manufacturing sectors.
“His selfless dedication to purpose, his compassionate heart, and his unwavering spirit will be profoundly missed,” the company added.
