The Catholic Church in Uganda is mourning one of its renowned music composers Monsignor Bonaventure Kasaija.
Aged 86, Kasaija succumbed to High blood pressure and diabetes on Thursday at Virika Hospital in Fort Portal.
He has composed 700, of the songs that are currently used in Catholic Churches across the country. The deceased also translated a number of Latin and English hymns into Runyoro/Rutooro.
Robert Muhiirwa, The Bishop Fort Portal Diocese described Kasaija as a dedicated and devoted servant, a loyal mentor and humble priest whose death comes as a blow to to the catholic faith.
Fr. George William Mugenyi, of Fort Portal Diocese says that with many songs to his name, Kasaija played a crucial role in shaping praise and worship in the Catholic Church.
