China’s Star Times Launches Channel for Ugandan Sports

The Chinese Pay Tv, Star Times has today launched a channel that will screen Ugandan Sports.
 
Star Times and PearlSporto (a Ugandan sports management company) have partnered to bring a new project to the digital platform which will capture Ugandan sports. Chairman Board of Directors of PearlSporto, Moses Magogo explains that the project is geared towards promoting local sport since sports in Uganda which have been ignored by many people

Magogo said that while Star Times will guarantee the Digital Video Broadcast platform, PearlSporto shall provide content of Ugandan athletes in action from all corners of the country and worldwide. This was during the function at Soliz House in Nakasero.

Kevin Chen, the Stare Times CEO, said the platform will provide the business community with a chance to communicate their brand messages to the sports audience, while sports it’s self will also be promoted. Chen said their company which has over 3 million subscribers in China and is now the leading PayTv in Uganda and is steadily growing.

He said Star Times will continue to work with the sports sector in Uganda.  The move, he said, is because they are very conscious of the audience’s demands.

The State Minister for Sports, Charles Bakkabulindi who launched the channel thanked Star Times and PearlSporto for the partnership and called upon Ugandans to support the initiative by buying more decorders and watch local sport.  He said the partnership was especially important because it would encourage Ugandans to cherish their own sports figures and talents.
