The High Court’s Land Division has issued summons to former Premier, Prof. Apollo Nsibambi over an alleged land scam involving his two nephews.

Prof. Nsibambi is accused by his two nephews; Peter Kimanje Nsibambi and James Kimanje, sons of Nsibambi’s brother, the late Ezekiel Kimanje, for fraudulently leasing over 36 hectares of land to a stone quarry company without their knowledge yet it was their father’s.

The land in contention is located on Bulemezi Block 209, plot 50, in Luwero district.

In the court summon issued on August, 26, Nsibambi, his brother and two companies are needed in court within 15 days to file their defense about the case against them.

The case file says that, on September 30, 2004, Nsibambi acting as the registered proprietor of the land, signed a lease agreement with Hammerman Ltd, allowing it to set up a stone quarry and crusher business on the land for a period of 99 years, renewable for another 99.

According to the nephews, by the time of the agreement, the land was still registered in their grandfather Semyoni Nsibambi’s name under the management of its registered administrators who included their late father. Therefore, their uncles could not lease it as its registered proprietors.

They therefore want court to declare that the lease agreement was premised on deceit, falsehood and fraud thus evicting however is currently using the land.
