Kyebakutika Hands Over Food Items
JINJA – Jinja City Woman Member of Parliament (MP) Hon.Manjeri Kyebakutika has on Monday, July 12 run to the rescue of the people she represents in the House with 10 tones of posho and hand washing dispensers.
According to the legislator, distribution of posho commenced in the areas of Bugembe,Masese and Mafubira on Monday .
Hon. Kyebakutika is a National Unity Platform (NUP) legislator, serving her first term in the House.
‘’Many of our people in these areas are suffering because of the lockdown. I understand that especially those who used to depend on their daily income businesses have been hit hard. The fight against Covid-19 has ravaged the whole world and cannot be fought by individuals. It has to be a collective effort’’, said Kyebakutika.
About the Hand washing kits, Kyebakutika said the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation interventions will also enhance the fight against spread of COVID-19 or any other outbreak.
‘’In view of the current situation created by this pandemic around the world, it is obvious that there is nothing more precious than preventive measures and protection against this virus which spares no one: rich and poor, big and small, young and old, men and women. All are affected’’, Kyebakutika encouraged residents to follow the SOPs.
Local leaders commended MP Kyebakutika for donating food relief to town dwellers who were affected by the lockdown.
President Yoweri Museveni last month re-imposed a strict lockdown that included the closure of schools and the suspension of inter-district travel to help beat back a surge in COVID-19 cases in the country.
The measures included the closure of all educational institutions, some bans on travel, the shutdown of weekly open markets, and the suspension of prayer services among others.
