DPP to Take on IGP over Deadly Baguma
By Serestino Tusingwire
The Director of Public prosecutions, Justice Mike Chibita has vowed to make former CPS boss Aaron Baguma appear before Buganda road magistrate’s court to answer murder charges.
Baguma is a murder suspect in the death of a city business woman Donah Katushabe who was allegedly beaten to death at Pine car depot, belonging to Mr. Muhammed Ssebuwufu over the unresolved debt of Shs9m for a vehicle she had bought.
The DPP while addressing the media on Tuesday refuted reports that police has failed his efforts to prosecute former Kampala Central Police Station DPC Aaron Baguma saying that he remains a murder suspect and he would be duly brought to court.
Chibita confirmed that a charge sheet against Baguma has been prepared, sanctioned by the Resident State Attorney at Buganda Road Court and forwarded to the director of Criminal Investigations Department to have Baguma arrested and produced in court.
Despite him being the focus of a serious criminal case, Police has sent Baguma on a six month course at the Police Senior Command and Staff College in Bwebajja, Wakiso district.
Meanwhile, following the IGP’s failure to appear before the Makindye magistrate’s court, the DPP has vowed to take on the case as he has filed an application for consideration to take him on over charges of brutality.
