Elderly Man Nabbed Defiling 8-year-old

Kabale police are holding a 70-year-old man accused of defiling an eight year old girl. Edward Nsigirenda was reportedly caught red-handed defiling his victim at his home in central division on Saturday.
The suspect reportedly grabbed his victim who was on her way from school and forced her inside his house, where he raped her. The minor sounded an alarm which attracted residents who ran to her rescue.
The residents apprehended the suspect and handed him over to Kabale Central Police Station.

Scovia Twikirize, the mother of the defilement victim collapsed when she heard about the incident and was rushed to Kabale referral hospital.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional Police spokesperson says police has launched investigations into the matter adding that, the suspect will be produced in court to answer defilement charges.

Section 129 of the penal code states that Defilement of girl under the age of eighteen. (1) Any person who unlawfully has sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of eighteen years commits an offence and is liable to suffer death (2) Any person who attempts to have unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of eighteen years commits an offence and is liable to imprisonment for eighteen years, with or without corporal punishment.
