KAMPALA. The former Nation Media’s NTV Luganda news anchor, Frank Walusimbi has joined the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as Communications Officer.

This is after he left Ugandans in shock following his decision to resign from the station he had worked for, for the last 15 years.

During his live announcement after Akawungezi news on Thursday April 28, Walusimbi never disclosed his next move thus throwing Ugandans into guesswork.

However, the latest news reaching us indicates that Walusimbi is in things after securing a contract with the UN Agency as a Communications Officer.

Walusimbi was one of Uganda’s Award-winning telecasters with vast experience in narration and storytelling.

He joined NTV Uganda in 2006 when the station was launched in Uganda and anchored his first news bulletin on December 25, 2006.

Over the years, he made viewers fall in love with the Luganda news thanks to his unique and calm style.

Frank Walusimbi’s background

Walusimbi was born on August 29, 1981, at Kilembe Mines Hospital, Kasese. He went to Busega Preparatory Primary School, Uganda Martyrs’ Secondary School, Rubaga for his Uganda Certificate of Education, and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education.

He studied his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at Uganda Christian University and also holds a Masters’ degree in Development Studies from Uganda Martyrs University.

In 2004, while in his final year at Uganda Christian University, Walusimbi started to contribute to the Sunday Vision Magazine as a Features Writer before he proceeded to join the Daily Monitor in 2005 as a features writer and a reporter.

From Daily Monitor, Walusimbi crossed to NTV in 2006 and later resigned to join the UNHCR as their Communications Officer.
