Hon. Seth Murari Declares Mayoral Bid For Mbarara City

Hon. Seth Murari has officially declared his candidacy for the Mbarara City Mayorship, an announcement made last month that was met with excitement by many residents. Affectionately known as “Muzahura wa City Yeitu” (the savior of our city), Murari enjoys strong grassroots support.
He has earned wide recognition for his proactive role in environmental conservation, particularly through his annual SAVE RIVER RWIZI MARATHON.
This event raises awareness about the threats facing River Rwizi and promotes sustainable waste management solutions for Mbarara City. His efforts have already resulted in the construction of several underground waste bunkers, aimed at protecting the river and creating a cleaner urban environment.
In addition to his environmental advocacy, Hon. Murari is also a dedicated promoter of sports and community engagement.
He is well known for organizing successful moto rallies at Booma Grounds, which consistently attract large crowds and boost local business activity.
Most recently, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, Murari officiated a football match between Mbarara Taxi Operators and the Garage Operators Association at the Global High School playgrounds. More than just a game, the event symbolized the beginning of a people-centered movement focused on rebuilding trust, unity, and dignity among ordinary citizens.
Murari’s mayoral platform centers on a clear vision for Mbarara City’s growth and development, rooted in his deep understanding of the city’s challenges. As a native son of Mbarara with broad experience and a hands-on approach, many believe his leadership could usher in a new era of transformation and progress for the city.
