I am the only UG Rapper that speaks 30 languages- Mbarara’s star Prince Emma reveals

Prince Emma Wa’royal Aka Emmy Kamugisha is a former Radio sports, presenter/analyst Currently pursuing his hip Hop music career. Based in Mbarara, Emma has released hit songs. His lastest Kankore hit is taking Western Uganda airwaves by storm. The song was Produced by Brian Beats and video by Kellon.
Wa’royal is a businessman based in Mbarara and has released several hip-hop songs, including Komawo mukwano, Kabite ft Africana, and Bansazeyo Tukyariwo, etc.
We caught up with him
What first got you into music?
I simply call it passion that drove me to the industry. The old school music made me love music. I had to pursue the Music
Who Prince Emma?
I am Kamugisha Emmy. Born in Rubirizi district in a village called Katerera but grew up in Mbarara. I am a rapper, radio personality. I have worked with different radio stations in the western region.
Briefly tell us your music background? Was your family supportive in the first place?
I can’t say my family was so supportive. They have no idea how I started music. I left my family when I was a little boy. I used to survive alone on the streets of Mbarara. My family up today if I even went to school. I have been a father, mother, and all to myself. All success behind me is myself.
What is the saddest moment you can recall when you had just started?
I think the biggest issue is finance. As an artist when you’ve starting, you have to look for money and make good music.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
I do hip-hop music with African traditional elements. I do real African Hip hop because my music talks about hustle and real-life experiences of people.
With no doubt your songs are receiving massive airplay, in your thinking, what contributed to this?
Creativity is one number. If you listen to Kankole song and mutitira song, I just created something different here in Uganda. I used a lot of languages. I mix languages when I am composing. I want my music to be listened by all tribes around the globe.
Let’s talk about your latest song, what is the message behind this song?
My latest song is called Mutitira. Literally, it means happiness. Total happiness. All regions can listen and understand the song. The video is out on youtube and other music outlets.
Who writes your songs?
I have got no writer that is around me. I just grab a pen and paper and write my songs.
Which artist. would you wish to collaborate with me?
Of course, professor Jay of Tanzania is a great guy. I am looking forward to meeting him and we do a collabo.
Apart from your latest song, what other songs have your produced?
There is mutitira. It was a massive tune. It has pushed me to release this latest one and many others more.
What is your favourite song among them all?
Kankore is my favourite because the song talks about my life. The lyrics in that song talks about my real-life experience.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
I want my fans to love me and support me. I should also tell them to go on youtube and subscribe. Yeah, that is it.
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
Really!!. Hahaha. I don’t still remember singing while showering.
What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
Radio presentation and TV station. I joined media at 18 years. I grew up in media working with different Radios. Currently, I am on pose to push my music.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
Of course, the internet has done a big job. Without the internet right now, there is nothing much you can. Today you release a song, upload it online and fans get access to it.
What is your favourite song to perform?
It remains Mutitira. Simple.
Which famous female musicians do you admire?
Wow! Lydia Jazmine is my girl. I admire her to bits. I really love her so much.
What has been your greatest challenge in the ug music industry?
It is just music promotion. It is the most expensive venture. We don’t have enough money to push the music. It is challenging.
What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
I recall 6 years back, the landlord chased me from his house. I felt so troubled. I can’t forget.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
It would be massive. I would change how Videos are done and produced.
What’s next for you?
Very soon I am hitting the studio for new tunes. Let my fans look out for my songs. Ugandans should remember I am the only rapper who can speak more than 30 languages.
