Simon Mugabi, the Chief Executive Officer told the press during an interview last night that they concluded the national trials and picked the best four boys and girls who will start training next week.  Mugabi explained that the trials were to ensure they got the best and avoid talk that certain players were favored

Mugabi said although Uganda won bronze in the team events and individual event at the last event held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, he is optimistic that with good training and facilitation, the team can do well. Nigeria and South Africa are the defending champions of the event.

Fast improving Daniel Mihigo, a student of Taibah High School on Entebbe Road, is part of the boy’s team together with Davis Senono, Brian Kasirye and Bruno Masaba. The girls team will have; Brenda Awori, Glady Mbabazi, Brenda Mugabi and Brenda Nabusindo.

However, Mugabi said they need Shs20 million to be able to take the team for the event.

Mugabi also said that after the recent hosting of the Uganda International Open that attracted foreign stars from over six countries, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) has praised Uganda’s level of organization.
