Kagame Cup Back To Rwanda

After the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame honouring his pledge of US$60,000 towards the prize money for 2014 Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) Club Championship in August, the secretariat has announced that the tourney will finally return to Kigali.

Nicholas Musonye, the CECAFA Secretary General announced the development in a communication.

“CECAFA and the Rwanda FA finalising the sponsorship package that will cater for expenses for all teams and delegations at the event,” added Musonye. He said they expect a very competitive competition as it returns to Rwanda.

Burundi’s Vital ‘O are the CECAFA Club Championship defending champions after they defeated APR 2-0 in the final last year in Darfur, Sudan.

KCCA FC from Uganda, Gor Mahia (Kenya) and Young Africans (Tanzania) are some of the top teams expected to spice up the tournament that brings together league champions from the respective zonal members.
