Kaizer Cheifs Sign Bukenya

Ugandan centre-back Ivan Bukenya has been handed a two year deal at Kaizer Chiefs.

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of Ugandan international defender Ivan Bukenya.

The club tweeted: “Kaizer Chiefs would like to acknowledge the signing of the Ugandan International, Ivan Bukenya. We welcome him to the Family!”

The defender started training with the club on September 12. He has signed a two-year deal with an option to renew.

“I received a warm welcome from the player and everyone at The Village,” the 22-year-old tells the club’s website.

“The captain [Itumeleng Khune] is forever happy and has been supportive. There is a spirit of love and peace in the team and I am looking forward to a great time here.”

Amakhosi football manager Bobby Motaung said: “We would like to welcome Ivan to the team. He is a quality player and has both defensive and midfield qualities.

“He is professional, age is on his side as well and we are hoping for longer relations. The coach has worked with him and is happy with what he saw.”

The burley defender recently played for Erbil SC in Iraq and came through all the junior national team ranks in Uganda and has become the second Ugandan to play for Kaizer Chiefs after winger David Obua.
