Kayihura Firmly Under Military ‘Arrest’

Former Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura is tonight sleeping under military arrest.

The disgraced soldier who was fired from his post as IGP in March and described as a weevil was airlifted from his country farm in Kashagama in rural Lyantonde and brought to Kampala aboard military chopper to meet the Chief Of Defence Forces Gen. David Muhoozi.
Shortly after meeting Muhoozi at Mbuya, Kayihura was driven in a convoy to his home in Muyenga. We are informed that this was to carry out a search at his home and remove military communication equipment, guns and other stuff from the house.
The convoy was of a number of vehicles with blackened windows and with red UC registration numbers, driven by soldiers.
His home in Muyenga which until yesterday looked abandoned was surrounded by military men and several military pickup trucks could be seen on the side roads.
It is not clear where Kayihura will spend the night but sources we spoke to told us he is effectively under arrest.
THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY AND WE ARE EXTENDING OUR PRINT DEADLINE TO BRING YOU THE LATEST TOMORROW IN RED PEPPER. DON’T MISS
