With just hours left to the kick-off of the Uganda Cup final replay between rivals KCC FC and SC Villa, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has changed the match referees.

FUFA competitions director, Ali Mwebe announced yesterday on FUFA radio 102.1 Wava FM

“We now confirm that Kenyan referees will handle the Uganda Cup final. We want to erase any chance of unfairness,” said Ali Mwebe.

This cancels the earlier statement by the FUFA standing committee that had suggested that Alex Muhabi and other assistants who had been tipped to take charge of the final.

Muhabi a FIFA referee with Hussein Bugembe (first assistant), Ronald Katenya (second assistant) and Joseph Ochom (fourth official) were on Monday confirmed to be in charge of the Uganda Cup final of today.

New changes will see Kenyan referee Odhiambo Oliver Omondi as the centre referee and will be assisted by Otieno Andrew Juma and Tony Mudayi Kidiya handle the final.

Alex Muhabi will be the day’s 4th official, Harunah Mawanda as the match assessor while FUFA’s second vice president, Darious Mugoye shall be the match commissioner.

Mean while KCC FC will play today’s Cup final while depleted after referee Robert Donney’s match report denies more than three players to play.

His final match report has left everyone shocked with three more red cards included on top of the publicly shown red card to Hakim Ssenkumba.

Goal Keeper Yasin Mugabi, Joseph Ochaya and Hakim Ssenkumba are among the players implicated in Donney’s report.
