Kiruhura NRM Primaries Postponed

National Resistance Movement Electoral Commission has postponed Kiruhura district NRM Primaries to Wednesday on 28th/ October/ 2015 over the demise of Michael Nyamuguri Kananura, an MP aspirant.

Kananura perished in accident on Saturday evening at Kanyaryeru along Mbarara Masaka road.

The postponement came on the backdrop of stake holders’ request to the party.

People who pushed for postponement includes Kiruhura District NRM chairman Shedrack Nzaire, the former Nyabusozi Member of Parliament who is now an Oil Elly Karuhanga, Area MP Col. Fred Mwesigye, the Kiruhura District Chairman LC5 chairman Samuel Katugunda and other influential district officers.

The late Kananura, worked as Nyabushozi senior assistant secretary before resigning, declaring his candidature to contest for the Nyabushozi county Parliamentary seat currently occupied by Col. Fred Mwesigye.

He was seen as a most favourite candidate to win the race.

Kananura has been convening meetings with many people sometimes in Mbarara, Kiruhura and Kampala. He was an entrepreneur, owning a number of small scale businesses at the same time working as a public servant. He worked in all sub counties found in Nyabushozi County as a sub county chief.
