Kiryandongo Local Sues MTN After On-site Accident

Franko Katusabe, a resident of Kiryandongo district is seeking 15 million shillings in compensation from Remi National Company after he fell off an MTN pole and broke his spine and legs. Remi National Company was contracted by MTN to install network poles in Kiryandongo district. 
Katusabe says that during the course of his work in 2011 he fell of a pole and broke his spine and legs, which has rendered him useless. According to Katusabe, he has made various attempts to get compensation from the company in vain. He blames the company for buying them fake boots for climbing the pole, which led to the accident.
Section 3(1) and (7) of the workers compensations act Cap 225 provides compensation for employees who get injured in the course of their work. On 19th September 2013, Anthony Ayesiga, the Hoima District Labor Officer wrote to Masindi court to consider the case of Katusabe.
Norman Sabiti, the Remi National Company project manager says he has nothing to do with Katusabe, who he accuses of forging a letter to blackmail the company. Sabiti admits that Katusabe was an employee of in their company but left way back.
