Mulindwa confirmed his decision during a press conference at Pope Paul Hotel, Ndeeba in Kampala on Tuesday November 18, 2015.

FUFA officially nominated Mulindwa for presidency of the Council for East and Central African Football (CECAFA) early this year to take on incumbent CECAFA president Leodgar Tenga of Tanzania who has been in the seat since 2007 after Uganda’s Dennis Obua.

“After 18 years in football as President of Vipers Sports Club, President of a National Football Association (FUFA), Vice President of CECAFA, member of standing committee of FIFA and CAF, the game has become part of my life” Mulindwa remarked.

Mulindwa was elected to the CECAFA Executive in November 2013 before being appointed CECAFA Vice chairman in February last year.

An insight of his manifesto highlights the intensions to improve the standards of refereeing, coaching, and competitiveness within member clubs and national teams and setting up football academies within the region.

In the race, Uganda’s Mulindwa will battle with the incumbent Leodega Tenga, Ethiopia’s Juneydi Basha, Vincent Nzamwita (Rwanda) and Khamal Shaddad (Sudan).

The elections are slated for Friday November 20, 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
