Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago should iron out differences with his councilors in order to reclaim his seat at City Hall, the seat of Kampala Capital City Authority, The Minister in charge of Kampala Frank Tumwebaze has said.
Lukwago, who has been out of office since 2013, has been reported to be in negotiations with government to facilitate his return following fruitless court attempts.
Lukwago was thrown out of office after a KCCA tribunal found him guilty of abuse of office, incompetence and misconduct.
However, Tumwebaze says the negotiations, should not be treated as a vote between the Government and the Opposition.
“Let’s not pretend over issues, the parties to the conflict is Mr. Lukwago and the councilors, I am giving you the right diagnosis, so if you diagnose the problem wrongly and make it a political problem, you miss the point,” Tumwebaze told the presidential affairs committee of Parliament this morning.
He also expressed readiness to work with Erias Lukwago upon his return. “I have no personal issue against Lukwago but we must work together according to the law, according to the right principles”, he added.
