M7 Promotes more UPDF Officers, Kayihura Now General

President Yoweri Museveni has made promotions and Changes in UPDF that have seen the Inspector General of Police Lieutenant General Kale Kayihura elevated to the rank of full General.

The army spokesman Lt Col. Paddy Ankunda on Saturday issued a statement confirming this development.

This comes at a time when the Commander in Chief of the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces and President of Uganda elevated the Commander of the Land Forces Lt. Gen Katumba Wamala to CDF and appointed his predecessor Gen. Aronda Nyakairima Minister of Internal Affairs.

Gen Museveni Promotes more UPDF Officers:
His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda and Commander in Chief of the UPDF has made promotions and Changes in UPDF as follows.

1. Lt Gen Kale Kayihura the Inspector Gen of Police has been promoted to General.
2.Brig Garvas Mugenyi Formerly Commander of Armour ed Brigade has been transferred and Appointed Commander Air Defence Division.
3.Col Joseph Ssemwanga Formerly Commandant Armour ed Warfare Training School has been promoted to Brig and Appointed Commander Armour ed Brigade.
4. Col Augustine Kyazze has been Promoted to Brig and remains Deputy Chief of Logistics and Engineering In-charge of Engineering.
5.Col Francis Chemongesi Formerly Armour ed Brigade Operations Officer has been promoted to Brig and Appointed Commandant Armour ed Warfare Training School.
6. Col Deus Sande Formerly Chief Instructor Armour ed Warfare Training School has been Promoted to Brig and attached to AMISOM.
7. Col Charles Lutaya Formerly Acting Chief of Staff Air force goes for Senior Air Staff and Command Course in the U.S.A.
8. Lt Col James Birungi is Promoted to Col and Appointed Acting Chief of Staff Air force.
