Budadiri West MP Nathan Nandala Mafabi has declared his intentions of becoming the Secretary General of Forum for Democratic change (FDC).
“In the interest to strengthen FDC and position it to provide alternative leadership to this country and after wide ranging consultations within the party and outside, I decide to present myself for the position of Secretary General of the FDC,” Mafabi posted on his official Facebook page.
In 2012, Mafabi was defeated by Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu who succeeded FDC founder president, Dr. Kizza Besigye in a hotly contested election.
Some party members have described Mafabi’s move as a sign of demotion since he had already contested for a higher office.
“From presidency to SG…! Noooo…… this is a desperate move aimed at satisfying own interests,” said Robert Wanzala.
Mafabi responded by saying that he is not serving his interests but ones for the party.
“I do serve the party in any capacity my brother,” responded Mafabi.
