President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has described late former First Lady of Kenya Mama Lucy Kibaki as a strong woman who greatly contributed to the development of her country.
“I hope that her legacy as a relentless campaigner for women’s rights, the disadvantaged and disabled persons, girl child education and the fight against HIV/AIDS will not only live on, but provide a solid example for younger generations to emulate,” the President said in a condolence message to His Excellency Mwai Kibaki, the former President of the Republic of Kenya.
President Museveni said it was with a deep sense of loss and sorrow that he learnt of the death of Mama Kibaki.
“Please accept deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy from myself, my wife Janet, my family, the government and the people of Uganda upon this loss. While I cannot fathom the pain and anguish you and your family is going through, I know that the Almighty God provides solace to all aching hearts. I, therefore pray that he will strengthen, comfort and guide you during this difficult time. May you draw further comfort from the memories of the wonderful times you shared with her. May the Almighty God grant Mama Lucy eternal rest,” he said.
