Masindi: Police Investigating Vile Murder Of AMISOM Soldier

Police in Masindi district, western Uganda are investigating the horrific murder of Fred Banura, a Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) soldier attached to African Union Mission in Somalia-AMISOM.

UPDF infantry Returns from Somali recently.

Banura’s lifeless body was found lying, about 200 meters away from his home in Kikingura village Mirya Sub County on Tuesday morning.

Kamisafu Mugenyi, the Masindi Criminal Investigations Officer says the deceased soldier returned to Kikingura villageover the weekend for leave from Somalia.

“The assailants took off with a Bajaj Motorcycle registration number UDL 546D that the deceased was riding” Mugenyi said. Adding that police is investigating the motive of the murder.

His motorcycle was found abandoned in Kigumba town on Tuesday morning. He had borrowed the motorcycle from his brother Hassan Kabagambe.

According to information obtained by police from the relatives of the deceased, Banura met the goons while returning home from Kikingura trading centre, where he had spent his evening.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
