Mbarara Police Commander Picked Up By CMI Soldiers

The Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence-CMI has picked up Jaffar Magyezi, the Mbarara District Police Commander.

Lt. Geoffrey Sunday, the 2nd Division UPDF Spokesperson, says Magyezi was picked up by CMI operatives this morning and taken to Mbuya over an unspecified matter.

Sunday’s revelation contradicts claims by the Rwizi Regional Police spokesperson, Samson Kasasira that Magyezi had been summoned to appear at the police headquarters by the Inspector General of Police, Okoth Martin Ochola aka OMO by close of business today.

Magyezi joins other senior police commanders including the former IGP, Kale Kayihura who are being held by the military.

Others are Herbert Muhangi, the former commandant of the Police Flying Squad, former police director Atwooki Nduhura, Cyber Crime Officer, Richard Ndaboine, Siraj Bakaleke, the former Commandant Kampala North, Nixon Agasirwe, the former Commandant Special Investigation and Joel Aguma, the former Commandant Professional Standard Unit.

The officers are accused of various offenses including espionage, organised crime and illegally extraditing refugees.
