Afcon 2015 2nd leg Qualifier
Uganda Vs Madagasacar – Namboole Stadium (4:00 pm)
Saturday 31st May 2014

Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sedrojevich has called for calmness ahead of the return leg of the AFCON 2015 second round qualifier at Mandel National stadium, Namboole on Saturday 31st May 2014.

“We traveled to Madagascar for the first leg which we unfortunately lost. We shall remain focused and look forward to overturning the result at Namboole Stadium”, Micho told the media at the weekly press conference held at FUFA headquarters in Mengo on Wednesday.

The Cranes players who resumed training on Wednesday evening will be engaged in the return leg at Namboole Stadium.

“First every single individual (will have) to perform to their standards and on our fortress Namboole (last lost to South Africa 1-0 in 2004) with support of our fans without any excuse we have to get the result that will enable us to progress to next stage,” Micho adds.

Micho expects the return of experienced players-striker Geofrey Massa and goal keeper Robert Odongkara who were both injured and missed the first leg.

The Kenyan quartet of Hamza Muwonge (Thika United), Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito, Daniel Sserunkuma (Gor Mahia FC) and Aucho Khalid (Tusker FC) returned to their clubs after the Sunday match as they have midweek games.

Left back position Godfrey Walsuimbi will still be sidelined as CAF asserted that he has to miss two physically played games from the red card he picked up against Senegal during the 2014 FIFA cup qualification campaign.

The head coach also promised a positive return leg where attack and defense will be the foundation to ensure progress to the next round where the winner faces Eqautorial Guinea or Mauritania. Mauritania won the first leg 1 – 0 at home.

The federation has already engaged Denis Onyango’s South African club and Tonny Mawejje ‘s Norwegian team to ensure they release the players for the upcoming game.
