Uganda tactician Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has revealed that he has no choice but to start looking for another assistant after Sam Timbe signed for Kenyan Premier League side Sofapaka this week.
“We have excluded Timbe for the Botswana trip, but we are hoping to be with him for the camp in Turkey and for the crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Senegal next month,” said Micho.
The coach further revealed that he will now have to embark on looking around for another assistant coach since Timbe will become more occupied with the job at Sofapaka.
Timbe, who is expected to leave for Nairobi tomorrow to start his new job, also told RED Pepper Online that there is no way he will be able to remain as assistant coach for the national team and also handle Sofapaka at the same time.
Ex-Cranes winger Kefa Kisala, who is the Cranes’ second assistant coach, will, together with experienced goalkeepers coach Fred Kajoba, now help Micho to prepare the team.
Timbe, the Brazilian-trained coach, is one of the most decorated coaches in the Cecafa region after winning league titles with several teams as well as the regional Cecafa Kagame Club Championships with four different teams [SC Villa (Uganda), Atraco FC (Rwanda), Police FC (Uganda) and Young Africans (Tanzania)] said he is up to the challenge.
Jackson Mayanja, who was assistant coach to former national coach Robert ‘Bobby’ Williamson, is now handling Tanzania’s Premier League side Kagera Sugar FC.
