Movit Tycoon Set Free From Security Detention

Security operatives have released Simpson Birungi the owner of Movit Company.

Birungi has been in detention for 45 days after he was arrested on June 7th. It is believed he was being held by Internal Security Organisation (ISO) operatives.

According to media reports the Movit tycoon has been set free on police bond after he was handed over to the police by ISO.

Sources say his file is being scrutinized by the office of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to possible prosecution in court.

There was never any indication why Birungi was being detained. He was never produced in court and its not clear if he recorded any statements.

A court order served on ISO and other government agencies for his release was ignored. But on Monday evening, Birungi’s friend and Kampala marketing supremo Balaam Barugahara posted on social media that Birungi was out of detention. He also posted a picture showing Birungi with his family sipping juice.

“Our dear friend Birungi Simpson Akiiki the humble, polite and kind man MD Chairman Movit Group of companies is out. ”
