MUK Guild President Arrested
By Serestino Tusingwire
The Makerere University Guild President, Roy Ssemboga has been arrested by police at the university gate on his way to petition parliament over the university closure.
It is remembered that on Monday, the same guild president gave Museveni a 48hour ultimatum to reopen the university before he takes further action.
While speaking at a press conference on Monday at the university guest house, Ssemboga argued that there is no reason for closing the university because auditing can be done while classes are going on as usual.
His 48hour ultimatum unfortunately elapsed on Wednesday without any sign of reopening the university.
This has therefore prompted him to take further action by petitioning the parliament, but his efforts have been interrupted by police.
It is not yet clear where he has been taken after his arrest.
