There was a bevy of activity at the Entebbe International Airport this afternoon as American Superstar, Ne-Yo’s advance team of 14 made its way to the VIP car park.
The team that comprises mainly sound engineers and technicians touched down at 1:30pm before heading to the Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala to oversee the final set up of the stage.
The stage is over 60 meters and has equipment weighing over 27 tonnes.
According to experts in the entertainment circles, Ne-Yo’s production is by far the biggest that Uganda has seen.
“This equipment was sourced from the UK and part of it is from South Africa. The lighting rail we shall use here is the very one Ne-Yo used while performing in London early this year,” said a technician at the site.
Ne-Yo who will be performing on October 30, 2015 arrives on Thursday night with another 16 people, mainly the band, backup singers and dancers.
The entire team will be residing at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
Information from the Hotel indicates that Ne-Yo will be residing at the Presidential Suite.
The entire team will occupy two floors of the Hotel that is located at the heart of Kampala.
In a related development, thousands of Ne-Yo fans have thronged the Game Lugogo parking lot to redeem tickets they won during the Pop’n Jam promotion.
According to an official at the venue, tickets being redeemed have tripled in the past few days with an average of 500 tickets currently being given out every hour.
