Over 70 Netted in Kampala City Festival

Police on Sunday 2nd, October, arrested more than 70 people over various cases during the annual Kampala City Festival which was held in the City Centre.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Spokesperson, Emilian Kayima, the arrests made were mainly public order offences and minor incidents of simple robbery, theft and pickpockets.
He however stated that thorough screening of the suspects will be done today (Monday) to slap charges on them.
“Screening and preferring charges against the suspects will be today (Monday)”, Kayima confirmed.
A festive mood gripped Kampala over the weekend as the fifth Kampala City festival got underway, drawing thousands of enthusiastic fun lovers and curious city residents.
Police headed by Frank Mwesigwa, the Kampala Metropolitan Police commander backed by other security agencies threw a huge security ring around the city, not to leave anything to chance.
It was through their efforts that these suspects were nabbed and ensured peace and order in the city for the whole weekend.
