The former Prime Minister while addressing media in Gulu yesterday called upon voters to be vigilant on the Election Day. Uganda goes to polls on Thursday next week.

“There are many ways cheating could be done. There are many people who come from Tanzania and they vote. We have people who come from Rwanda and they vote. I know that. We need to exercise maximum vigilance at the polling station,” Mbabazi said.

Adding; “The possibility of rigging is real, in any election all over the world. I have been calling for maximum vigilance at polling stations where rigging can take place, from allowing ineligible voters, double voting and vote stuffing.”

Allegations have been making rounds on social media though dismissed by the Electoral Commission that a plane carrying ballot papers from South Africa two week ago landed in Kigali en route to Entebbe Airport.

Amama Mbabazi has promised to follow up the allegations.

Rwandan President, Paul Kagame in December last year backed his Ugandan counterpart, NRM presidential flag bearer Yoweri Museveni for a fifth successive presidential term.

Kagame was part of the NRA war that brought president Museveni into power.
