Jinja – This year’s Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV’s coronation anniversary was held at the Igenge Palace in Butembe Chiefdom (Jinja) on Sunday, September 13, 2020.
The 6th scientific coronation function was attended by at least 170 people after numbers were limited because of restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
The colourful event was attended by Government officials, delegations from other kingdoms, MPs and ministers, Busoga Tourism Queens and the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.
Addressing guests at Igenge Palace, Kyabazinga Gabula called upon his subjects to be prolific in all they do so as to further transform Busoga and the country at large and support government programs that are aimed at helping the population.
The Busoga King also urged his subjects and the population across the country to follow the advice and all the health tips being offered in the fight against coronavirus that has claimed lives and infected millions.
The Kyabazinga decried the increasing rate of early child pregnancies in the region during the lockdown and urged all stakeholders to fight the vice.
Later, Gabula launched the Nile Source Coffee Union Ltd company headed by Dr. Muduli that will boost coffee farming and development in Busoga.
This year’s Celebrations were marked under the theme: ‘Surviving the coronavirus pandemic. Take personal responsibility and cooperate with the experts’.
“It was a scientific event held while maintaining all the guidelines given by health officials, which include having a small crowd, social distancing, guests wearing masks, washing hands with soap sanitizers, among others,” Busoga kingdom’s culture minister Richard Mafumo said.
The event was graced by Busoga Kingdom Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muvawala, his deputies; Prof. Dr. Muhamadi Lubega and Osman Noor Ahmed, Busoga Royal Concepts’ chairman Prof. Wasswa Balunywa, the Chief Prince (Issabalangira) of Busoga, hereditary chiefs, Busoga Kingdom Ministers and Clan Heads among others.
